Endoscopic Facial SurgeryEndoscopic facial surgery is a very helpful type of cosmetic procedure that can be used to rejuvenate a person’s appearance. This type of surgery is performed with the help of a device known as an endoscope.

The endoscope has a tube with a camera and light. It allows the surgeon to view the area being operated on in greater detail on an external screen. This makes the procedure less invasive and allows for smaller incisions in the skin, ensuring a shorter recovery period.

At The Plastic Surgery Institute of Dayton, we perform the endoscopic facelift and the endoscopic brow lift.

ENDOSCOPIC FACELIFT

The facelift is one of the most common plastic surgeries performed today. This procedure is a long-lasting way to tackle the signs of the aging process, tightening loose skin and correcting a sagging jawline.

Traditionally, facelifts have been carried out by first making a long incision that stretches from one ear to the other at the hairline. The surgeon needed to view the tissues underneath clearly, which made this longer incision the standard.

Now, endoscopy has taken away the need for making these incisions. Because the endoscope allows the surgeon to get a clear view of the underlying tissues of the face, they can make shorter incisions. This makes it a more patient-friendly procedure with minimal risks. It results in smaller post-surgical marks and allows for better healing.

Usually, the endoscopic facelift is performed by making small incisions behind the ear and/or behind the hairline. This ensures that post-surgical marks are not visible and can be covered by the patient’s hair. This is why the endoscopic facelift is also referred to as a “scarless surgery.”

ENDOSCOPIC BROW LIFT

While facelifts typically focus on the mid and lower face, brow lifts instead address the forehead and brow. This is where horizontal forehead wrinkles and vertical frown lines appear prominently, making the person look older. Sagging skin also develops, making the eyebrows droop.

A brow lift gets rid of wrinkles and tightens skin that has lost its elasticity, raising and restoring definition to the eyebrows. A brow lift, when combined with a facelift, provides more comprehensive rejuvenation and can help make a person look much younger.

The brow lift can be carried out with endoscopic surgery. The main difference between the endoscopic brow lift and the classic brow lift is that incisions are smaller, which allows for a quicker and more comfortable recovery with less bruising and swelling.

While a classic brow lift involves a single very long incision across or behind the hairline, the endoscopic brow lift involves the creation of three to five very small incisions in the same area.

Through one of these incisions, the endoscope is inserted, allowing the doctor to get a better view of the underlying tissues. Another tool is then inserted through another incision. This small tool is used to elevate the tissues. Once this is done, the incisions are closed with sutures.

I had Dr. Matthew Fox from Plastic Surgery Institute of Dayton. He was fantastic and the whole staff was friendly. Dr. Fox answered every question I had and took the time to explain everything from before, during, and after surgery. I would definitely recommend the Plastic Surgery Institute of Dayton.
